Lesson 11. Standard model: Symmetries and interactions. Introduction to nuclear physics.

Students should be able to:

  • Understand concept of symmetries and their considerations for Standard Model interactions
  • Describe structure of atomic nucleus and its decay characteristics
  • Describe concept of binding energy and Weizsäcker-droplet model and apply it for explanation of nuclear fission and fusion processes
  • Define the parity of particles based on information about reaction partners, spin and angular momentum

Warmup your students: ask  activating questions at the beginning and at the end of the lesson
