Lesson 13. Electro-magnetic transitions. Physics of nuclear reactors.

Students should be able to:

  • Describe the meaning of E1, E2 …/M1, M2 … transitions and predict if they can occur between two energetic levels
  • Perform calculations with C-parity and P-parity
  • Describe physics principle and neutronics of fission reactors
  • Explain the basic working mechanism of a pressure water reactor
