A variety of anthropogenic global changes such as elevated atmospheric CO2, prolonged drought periods and N deposition affect our planet’s forest ecosystems. Mycorrhiza is a symbiosis between fungi and plants, in which the fungi provide their host plants with different nutrients and get sugars in return. This symbiosis alters the effect of some environmental stressors on plants and may help forests deal with the above-mentioned global changes.
