Before Course Start

12 Before Course Start (MOOCs)

About three months before course start

  1. Prepare the About Page
    • Course editors are responsible for the About Page of each course run. Register on the Publisher site and try to log in once.
    • After that, you can be added as a course editor and work on the About Page (click on the upper Plus to see the form). Here, a course description as well as photos of the course team as well as their biographies should be uploaded.
    • Please take into account that edX will review the About Page, which takes up to three days. You can submit for review and later change as many things as you need and submit for review again, even if the about page has already been published.
You also can get the About Page published, if the “About Video” isn’t ready yet. The trailer can be added after the About Page is online.
  2. Grading policy and certificates
As soon as the course has been submitted for review in Publisher and has been published by edX, you will be able to set up a certificate. The certificate will be available for learners, who choose the verified track and is based on the grading policy for the course: see “Establishing a Grading Policy for your course“.
  3. Marketing
In principle, one has to take care of the marketing oneself. If you have a MOOC on edX.org, edX also does a lot, of course, just to get as many participants as possible. Therefore, it is important to publish the about page early. What else you can do? Announce the course:
