Lesson 6. Work. Accelerated systems.

Students should be able to:

  • Understand the difference between an inertial and an accelerated frame of reference.
  • Set up forces and simple equations of motion in accelerated frames of reference.
  • Explain the origin of additional acceleration terms in accelerated frames of reference.
  • Apply basic characteristics of circular motion in inertial and accelerated rotating systems.
  • Explain the concept of mechanical work and power.
  • Calculate the work needed to change the position an object in a uniform force field.

Warmup your students! Ask two activating questions at the beginning and at the end of the lesson
