Introduction

Target group

This guide is written for the ordinary lecturer who wants to make his/her material more interactive and thus use ways that do not exist with paper or PDF files. This guide may also appeal to the lecturer who wants to create eBooks and needs to know about some of the downsides.

Status quo

The status quo is not a perfect setting. You do not have lots of time on your hands and there is no trouble-free software. Standard software is not standard anymore because everything changes so fast. The students do not always want to learn nor exclusively work digitally because there is no perfect WLAN everywhere. The only problem mentioned here that we can try to solve is your time resources. With this guide we will not save you time but we hope that you will achieve more. (And if you work at ETH, ask your Educational Developer to support and help you.)

Goals of this guide

You know the basic features of future lecture material. You will understand what is possible using which format. Finally, you will get to know a new possibility available at ETHZ (and currently for all SWITCH AAI members) where almost everything is possible for your lecture material and which is amazingly still easy to use.
