Chapter 1 presents various pieces of information and statistics to describe current global energy systems. It is important to keep these statistics, or the general trends, in mind, in all discussions related to energy and climate issues. In this very simple problem set, we test students’ knowledge of some of these statistics using multiple choice questions. This problem set is thus different from those of the other chapters, which are more application-oriented.
