II.1 – Assessment Business Communication Semester   3                                   Weighting

Midterm tests   Presentations                                                                                                                                                                              30%     April -May 2024

Students give a presentation of a case study  in  pairs (10 minutes max+ 5 minutes Q and A ) or groups of three (15 minutes max+ 5 minutes Q and A ), covering and including

  • Awareness of cultural differences affecting behaviour and communication highlighted in the case study  ( include reference to some theoretical models and key thinkers )
  • Briefly explain the situation and identify the reason for the critical incident. Identify the cultural orientations that are at play during the scene You should include these in your handout (poster or PPT). Use these cultural orientation scales to show where you think each character fits best. Give examples of the behaviour to support these.Try to identify the goals each character is striving for.

    Offer recommendations on how the characters could steer the conversation to a more positive outcome

  • Distribute handouts to all class  members with important information from the presentation
  • The abstract for the presentation should be given to me by lesson 3.

Module Final exam in session 6 of the semester.

Module exam: Writing 90 minutes. Students write 1 text from module input- a length of 300- 350 words

This written text will analyse a situation or case study as practised in class.
